How Nalco PermaTreat PC-191T controls scale
Reverse osmosis concentrates dissolved salts along the pressure vessel, so the tail elements always see the highest saturation. Calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate, barium and strontium sulphate and silica are the species that precipitate first. An antiscalant holds those salts in solution past their normal solubility limit and disrupts crystal growth, which lets the plant run at design recovery without scale forming on the membrane surface.
Setting the dose
Dose comes from water chemistry and recovery, not from plant size. Begin with a full feed water analysis covering calcium, magnesium, bicarbonate, sulphate, barium, strontium, silica, pH, temperature and conductivity. Projection software then calculates saturation at the design recovery and returns the dose required to stay within supplier limits. Operating checks
- Log feed, permeate and concentrate pressure, flow and conductivity daily.
