Scope of supply of the solar panel cleaning water skid
Skid or trailer with all treatment stages piped and wired, control panel, product storage tank as specified, transfer pump, instrumentation, commissioning on site, operator training, and an O&M manual. Optional: spray lance and brush set, hose reel, AMC cover.
Installation and maintenance
Fixed units need a level pad, feed water connection, drain for RO reject and a power supply. Trailer units need a tow vehicle and a feed point. Service intervals: cartridges every 2–3 months in dusty conditions, membrane CIP annually, DI resin exchange as conductivity rises, membrane replacement every 3–5 years.

How the solar panel cleaning water skid treats the feed

Feed water enters the multimedia filter, where graded silica and anthracite drop turbidity and strip the sand that would otherwise abrade module glass and shred membranes. A 5-micron cartridge follows. The softener then removes calcium and magnesium so the membranes do not scale, and on high-hardness wells an EMEC antiscalant pump supplements it.
Reverse osmosis rejects 96–99% of dissolved salts. A borewell at 1,500 ppm leaves the membranes at 20–50 ppm. The mixed-bed deioniser then polishes that permeate below 5 ppm, which is the point at which water evaporates off hot glass leaving nothing behind. Treated water is stored, then pumped to the wash ring main or the bowser.
Sizing the solar panel cleaning water skid to your plant
Manual brush washing uses 1.5–3 litres per module, vehicle-mounted brushes 0.8–1.5 litres, and robotic systems with DI spray 0.2–0.6 litres. A 5 MW plant of roughly 9,100 modules therefore needs about 9 m³ per full cycle at one litre per module. The 2,000 LPH fixed model covers that in two working days; the 1,000 LPH trailer covers it in four and moves between sites in between.
Allow for the reject stream: at 55% recovery, 9 m³ of product consumes about 16.5 m³ of feed. On borewell-fed sites in Ibri, Adam or Manah, feed availability usually decides the model rather than the wash cycle.
Operating the skid on site
Log product TDS daily; a rising trend is the first sign of membrane trouble. Wash before 9 am or after 4 pm so cold water never hits hot glass. Never add detergent to solar panel cleaning water skid output, since surfactant residue attracts dust and attacks frame sealant. Keep the storage tank sealed. Industry soiling-loss research, including work published by NREL, shows cleaning frequency matters as much as cleaning method in arid climates.
