Amalgam UV system Oman: the SATEPA Amalgam Series from SATEPA Srl, Italy, is built for high flow applications: treated wastewater reuse, municipal water, desalination plants and large aquaculture. It handles 25 to 600 m³/h (110 to 2,641.7 GPM) using amalgam UV-C lamps with 14,000 hours lifespan, and inactivates 99.99% of bacteria when correctly sized.
SATEPA has designed UV electronics since 2007 and manufactures UV sterilizers from 0 to 600 m³/h in Bologna, Italy, using its own ballasts and controllers. UV Water Systems supplies, installs and services SATEPA equipment across the Sultanate.
How the SATEPA Amalgam Series Works
UV-C light at 253.7 nm disrupts the DNA and RNA of bacteria, viruses and protozoa so they cannot reproduce. Treatment happens instantly as water passes the lamps, with no chemicals added, no change in taste or odour, and no harmful by-products. For reliable results the water should be clear and pre-filtered, with low iron and manganese and good UV transmittance.

Choosing the Right Model
Model selection depends on peak flow rate, water source (municipal, well, tanker or seawater), UV transmittance, temperature and the required dose. In Oman, well and tanker water often carries iron, hardness or turbidity, so we check pre-treatment as part of every proposal. Installation and Maintenance
- Install after pre-filtration, with a bypass line and isolation valves for service
- Replace UV lamps every 9,000 hours (14,000 hours for amalgam), about once a year in continuous use
- Clean the quartz sleeve every 3 to 6 months, more often with hard water
- Keep the controller and ballast in a dry, ventilated place
