Culligan Scale Guard 50M17 RO Antiscalant is supplied in a 25 kg container for commercial and industrial reverse osmosis treatment programmes. The product should be dosed through a suitable chemical dosing system after an engineer reviews the feed-water analysis, membrane selection and operating recovery.

Culligan Scale Guard 50M17 RO Antiscalant in Oman

Mineral scale can block membrane flow channels, reduce permeate output and increase cleaning frequency. An appropriate antiscalant programme helps control precipitation risk before feed water enters the membrane array. UV Water Systems supplies Scale Guard 50M17 in Oman together with dosing equipment, RO service and water analysis.

Product features

Culligan Scale Guard product for RO water-treatment programmes.
25 kg pack for regular commercial and industrial dosing.
Designed for controlled addition through a compatible dosing pump.
Supports membrane operating programmes when correctly selected and dosed.
Available with local technical support in Muscat.

Typical applications

Scale Guard 50M17 may be considered for reverse osmosis systems serving hotels, restaurants, factories, hospitals, accommodation facilities and process-water users. Product suitability and dosage depend on hardness, alkalinity, silica, sulphate, temperature, recovery and concentrate chemistry.

Dosing and safety

Confirm the dose using the current Culligan technical data sheet, safety data sheet, water analysis and RO design. Do not estimate dosing from plant capacity alone. Use appropriate personal protective equipment and chemical-resistant tubing, tank and pump components. Store and handle the product according to its label and SDS. Only trained staff should prepare or adjust dosing solutions.

How an RO antiscalant controls scale

Reverse osmosis concentrates dissolved salts in the reject stream, so the last elements in each pressure vessel see the highest saturation. Calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate, barium and strontium sulphate and silica are the species that usually come out of solution first. An antiscalant keeps those salts dispersed past their normal solubility limit and interferes with crystal growth, so the plant can run at a higher recovery without scaling the membrane surface.

Dose selection

Dose is set by water chemistry and recovery, not by plant size. Start from a complete feed water analysis covering calcium, magnesium, bicarbonate, sulphate, barium, strontium, silica, pH, temperature and conductivity. Projection software then calculates saturation at the design recovery and returns the required dose. Brackish borewell water in Oman, high silica feeds and recovery targets above 75 percent all need closer review than treated municipal supply.

Operating checks

Record feed, permeate and concentrate pressure, flow and conductivity every day.
Normalise the readings so temperature effects are separated from real performance loss.
Compare actual chemical consumption against the calculated dose rate.
Act when differential pressure rises or normalised permeate flow falls by 10 to 15 percent.
Clean the membranes before scale becomes difficult to remove.

Handling and supply in Oman

Confirm compatibility and dosage against the current manufacturer technical data sheet and safety data sheet before dosing. Use dedicated chemical resistant dosing pumps, tanks and injection fittings, keep the drum closed and store it away from direct sun. Trained personnel should handle and dose the chemical using the protective equipment named in the safety data sheet. UV Water Systems supplies water treatment chemicals, dosing skids and RO plant service across Muscat, Sohar, Salalah, Duqm and Nizwa. Send your feed water analysis and RO design to sales@waterfilteroman.com or call +968 9763 7786 and we will confirm the right product and dose.
