The water filter price in Oman is the first question almost every customer asks, and it is the hardest one to answer in a single number. A shower filter and a hospital RO plant are both water filters. What follows is the honest 2026 picture: what each category typically costs in the Omani market, what changes the figure, and where buyers lose money without realising it.
The ranges below are indicative market ranges for Oman, not a quotation. Final pricing depends on your water test results, flow rate, plumbing access and the brand of components specified.
What decides the water filter price in Oman
Six things move the water filter price in Oman more than anything else.
- Your raw water quality. A villa at 250 ppm TDS on network supply needs a different build from a farm at 3,000 ppm on a well. Testing first is what stops you buying the wrong machine.
- Capacity. Domestic units are rated in gallons per day. Commercial and industrial plants are rated in litres per hour or cubic metres per day, and cost scales with capacity.
- Component brands. A Dupont Filmtec membrane, a Grundfos pump and an Emec dosing pump cost more than unbranded equivalents and last considerably longer.
- Stage count and features. UV lamps, mineral cartridges, TDS meters, booster pumps, auto-flush valves and storage tanks each add to the total.
- Installation work. A straight under-sink fit is quick. Running a new line to a fridge, drilling granite, or piping a plant room is real labour.
- After-sales cover. A unit sold with a warranty and an annual maintenance contract carries a different price from one sold and forgotten.

Water filter price in Oman by type
Typical installed ranges seen in the Omani market during 2026. Treat these as a planning guide.
| System | Typical range (OMR) | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Shower filter | 12 to 25 | Hair and skin complaints, chlorine odour |
| Inline 3-stage under-sink | 25 to 45 | Taste and sediment only, low TDS supply |
| 5 to 7 stage under-sink RO | 60 to 150 | Standard family drinking water |
| RO with UV and mineral cartridge | 110 to 200 | Households wanting bacteria control and taste balance |
| Countertop or floor-standing RO dispenser | 180 to 450 | Offices, clinics, reception areas |
| Whole-house cartridge filter (big blue) | 70 to 160 | Sediment and chlorine across the villa |
| Domestic water softener | 250 to 600 | Hard water, scale on geysers and taps |
| Commercial RO 250 to 500 LPH | 900 to 2,500 | Cafes, restaurants, small factories |
| Industrial RO 1,000 LPH and above | 3,500 upward | Hospitals, plants, labs, process water |
Prices exclude VAT and assume normal access. Anything unusual in the plumbing changes the installation element rather than the equipment element.
Domestic RO systems: what you actually get at each price
Under OMR 60
Usually a basic housing set with generic cartridges and no booster pump. It will improve taste. On Omani supply pressure it often underperforms, and cartridge sizes can be non-standard, which traps you with one supplier.
OMR 60 to 150
The sensible band for a family home. Expect a proper booster pump, standard 10-inch cartridges you can buy anywhere, a branded membrane, a pressure tank and a dedicated tap. This is where most of our residential installations sit.
OMR 150 and above
Higher output membranes, UV sterilisation, mineral or alkaline post-filters, digital TDS display, and in some cases tankless designs that save cupboard space. Worth it if your feed water is difficult or your household consumption is high.
Our full comparison of models and stages is in the guide to the best water filter in Oman, and the technical detail sits in the RO water filter article.
Whole-house filters and softeners
A drinking water filter protects one tap. A whole-house system protects the building. Where the water is hard, the softener saves you more money than it costs by keeping scale out of geysers, washing machines and mixers.
Sizing drives the price. A 25 litre resin unit for a small villa and a 100 litre unit for a large villa with a pool are different machines. The full sizing tables are in our guide to the water softener in Oman.
Commercial and industrial systems
Above domestic scale, nothing is sold from a shelf. Price is built from measured demand, feed water analysis, required product quality and duty cycle. A 500 LPH RO for a restaurant chain and a 100 cubic metre per day treatment line for a hospital are engineered separately.
- Cafes, restaurants and coffee chains. Softener plus RO plus carbon polishing, sized to peak service hours.
- Schools and offices. Multiple drinking points fed from a central RO with chilled dispensers.
- Hospitals and laboratories. Multi-stage lines with sand filtration, softening, RO and DI polishing.
- Factories and process plants. Demineralisation plants, dosing systems and continuous monitoring.

The running cost most buyers forget
The purchase price is roughly half the story over five years. Consumables and service make up the rest.
| Item | Interval | Typical range (OMR) |
|---|---|---|
| Sediment and carbon cartridge set | 6 to 12 months | 15 to 35 |
| Domestic RO membrane | 18 to 36 months | 15 to 30 |
| UV lamp | 12 months | 15 to 40 |
| Softener tablet salt (25 kg) | 4 to 8 weeks | Low, but continuous |
| Domestic annual maintenance contract | Yearly | 30 to 60 |
Our water filter maintenance guide sets out the full replacement schedule so nothing gets missed.
5 ways buyers overpay on a water filter price in Oman
- Buying without a water test. An RO unit fitted where a softener was needed solves nothing, and the customer pays twice.
- Non-standard cartridge sizes. Cheap units often use proprietary filters. The machine is cheap once. The refills are expensive forever.
- Paying for stages that do nothing. A ten-stage label sounds better than seven. Count what each stage actually removes, not how many housings are bolted together.
- No installation in the price. A low headline figure that excludes fitting, tap, tubing and drain saddle is not a low figure.
- No service backup. An imported unit with no local spares becomes scrap the first time a valve fails.
How to compare two quotations fairly
When you compare a water filter price in Oman across two suppliers, put both quotations side by side and check these lines. If a supplier will not answer them in writing, that tells you what you need to know.
- Membrane make and model, not just “RO membrane”
- Pump make and rating
- Cartridge sizes and whether they are standard 10-inch or 20-inch
- Whether installation, tap, tubing and drain connection are included
- Warranty period and what it covers
- Cost of the first cartridge change
- Response time for a service call
Every quotation we issue is itemised line by line with the technical description against each item, so you can run exactly this comparison.
Frequently asked questions on water filter price in Oman
What is a fair price for a home RO system in Muscat?
For a standard family villa, most properly specified installed systems land between OMR 60 and 150. Far below that usually means unbranded components or no installation included.
Is a more expensive filter always better?
No. It is better only if the extra money buys something your water actually needs. On low TDS supply, an expensive high-rejection membrane changes very little.
Does the price include VAT?
Ranges quoted here exclude VAT. Oman applies 5 percent VAT, and any compliant quotation will show it separately along with the supplier CR and VAT number.
Can I install a filter myself and save money?
You can, and we see the results. The common failures are a leaking drain saddle, a tank fitted without a check valve, and a membrane fouled in the first month because the system was never flushed properly.
How do I know what my water needs before asking for a price?
Get it tested. We offer a free water test in Oman covering TDS, hardness, pH and chlorine, and the readings decide the specification.
Get an itemised quotation
A realistic water filter price in Oman starts with a water test and a look at your plumbing, not a catalogue. We test free of charge across Muscat and the surrounding wilayats, then issue an itemised quotation showing the technical description, unit price and quantity against every line, with anything excluded stated clearly.
