Description
The 500 LPH EDI Module is a continuous electrodeionization stack that takes reverse osmosis permeate and polishes it to ultrapure water suitable for laboratory instruments, reagent preparation, autoclaves, glassware rinsing and pharmaceutical water loops. It combines ion-exchange resin, ion-selective membranes and a DC electrical field so the resin is regenerated continuously inside the stack. There is no resin change-out, no acid or caustic handling, and no regeneration waste to neutralise before drain.

This listing is for the EDI module stack only — the module itself, supplied as a component for integration into a new or existing system. Pre-treatment, RO unit, feed pump, DC power supply, instrumentation and skid are not included. If you need a complete turnkey lab ultrapure skid, contact us and we will size and quote the full system.
Why choose an EDI module in Oman
Groundwater and municipal supply across Muscat and the interior typically runs 500–2,000+ ppm TDS. Even after a well-designed RO stage, permeate conductivity is usually too high for Type I / Type II laboratory water. Mixed-bed DM polishing gets you there but brings resin regeneration, chemical storage and downtime. EDI removes that burden: it runs continuously, produces stable resistivity, and its only consumables are electricity and a small concentrate reject stream.
EDI module features & benefits
- Continuous electrical regeneration — no acid or caustic on site, no resin replacement, no regeneration downtime.
- 15–17 MΩ·cm product water — stable resistivity suitable for Type II lab water, and Type I when followed by a final polisher and 0.2 µm filter.
- 90–95% recovery — low reject volume, which matters where water cost and disposal are a concern.
- Thin-cell stack design — resin-filled dilute and concentrate compartments give consistent silica and CO₂ removal at low power draw.
- PP / ABS housing with SS316 tie rods — corrosion-free wetted path, no metal leaching into the product stream.
- Straightforward integration — standard threaded connections and a DC supply are all that is needed to add it downstream of an existing RO unit.
- Silica and boron reduction — removes the weakly ionised species that RO alone passes through.
Applications
- Hospital and clinical laboratories — analysers, reagent water, washer-disinfectors
- University, school and research laboratories
- Pharmaceutical purified water and WFI pre-treatment loops
- Electronics, plating and battery manufacturing rinse water
- Power plant and boiler feed polishing
- Cosmetics, food and beverage process water

Specifications are typical for a 500 LPH class module and are confirmed against the supplied datasheet at the time of order.
Scope of supply
- 1 × 500 LPH EDI stack, assembled and pressure tested
- Preservative-filled and sealed for shipping
- Manufacturer datasheet, operating limits and start-up instructions
Not included: RO system, pre-treatment, feed and recycle pumps, DC power supply / rectifier, control panel, resistivity monitor, flow meters, valves, piping, frame or skid, installation and commissioning. All of these can be quoted separately.
Installation requirements
- Upstream RO producing permeate within the feed limits above
- Stable feed pressure of 2–4 bar and a drain point for concentrate
- Regulated DC power supply sized to the module
- Indoor, shaded location, ambient below 40 °C, protected from freezing and direct sunlight

EDI module maintenance
- Log product resistivity, feed conductivity, flows, pressures and DC current weekly
- Verify RO permeate quality monthly — EDI life depends almost entirely on feed quality
- CIP cleaning only when resistivity or current trends indicate fouling or scaling
- Typical stack service life of 5–7 years when operated within specification
Warranty
12 months against manufacturing defects from the date of supply, subject to operation within the published feed water and electrical limits. Damage from out-of-spec feed water, chlorine exposure, scaling or incorrect DC polarity is not covered.

EDI module supply and support in Oman
We stock and supply this EDI module in Muscat and deliver across the Sultanate. The EDI module is normally installed downstream of a two-pass RO or an RO plus degasser, and it replaces the mixed-bed polisher in a conventional DM train. If you are comparing options, see our mixed bed ion exchange resin, our fully automated PLC DM plant and our strong base anion exchange resin for regenerable alternatives.
Feed water to the EDI module must meet the stack specification for conductivity, hardness, CO2, TOC, silica and free chlorine. Laboratory water purity classes are defined in ASTM D1193 reagent water standards, and membrane and resin selection follows DuPont Water Solutions design practice. Send us your RO permeate analysis and required flow, and we will confirm whether this EDI module suits your duty or whether a larger stack is needed.
