Description
RO Antiscalant Liquid – 25 kg Drum | UV Water Systems Oman
Scale formation is the single biggest cause of RO membrane failure in Oman. The Sultanate’s groundwater and municipal supply carry elevated concentrations of calcium, magnesium, sulphate, and silica — minerals that concentrate on the membrane surface as water is rejected and precipitate as hard scale within hours of start-up without proper chemical pre-treatment. RO Antiscalant Liquid supplied by UV Water Systems, Muscat, is a phosphonate and polymer-blend formulation specifically selected for Oman’s high-TDS brackish feed water. Continuous low-dose injection ahead of the high-pressure pump keeps mineral ions in solution, protects membrane elements, and extends replacement intervals from months to years.
How RO Antiscalant Works
Antiscalant operates through two mechanisms: threshold inhibition and crystal modification. At doses as low as 2–5 mg/L, the phosphonate and polyacrylate components adsorb onto crystal nucleation sites, distorting crystal growth and keeping calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate, barium sulphate, and silica in a non-adherent dispersed state. The formulation also contains dispersants that prevent colloidal particles from settling onto the membrane surface. UV Water Systems engineers calculate the correct dose using Langelier Saturation Index (LSI) and Stiff-Davis Index values derived from your actual feed water analysis.
Key Features and Benefits
- Broad-spectrum mineral control: Inhibits calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate, barium sulphate, strontium sulphate, and silica — the five most common scale types in Oman’s water sources.
- Low-dose efficiency: Effective at 2–8 mg/L feed concentration, minimising chemical consumption and operating cost over the system’s lifetime.
- Membrane-safe chemistry: Fully compatible with all polyamide thin-film composite (TFC) membranes including Dupont Filmtec, Toray, Hydranautics, and Koch.
- Extended membrane life: Regular antiscalant dosing can double or triple the interval between membrane replacements, cutting the highest single maintenance cost in any RO system.
- Stable in Oman’s heat: Formulated to remain stable and active at feed water temperatures up to 45°C, which is common in Oman’s summer months when feed tanks heat up in direct sun.

Applications Across Oman
UV Water Systems supplies RO antiscalant to residential multi-stage RO systems, commercial RO units in restaurants and hotels across Muscat, and large industrial RO plants at hospitals, oil facilities, and manufacturing sites throughout the Sultanate. Whether your feed is chlorinated municipal water from PAEW or hard brackish well water, we will select and configure the correct antiscalant programme for your system.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I dose antiscalant into my RO system? Antiscalant is injected via a chemical dosing pump (metering pump) on the feed water line before the cartridge filter stage. UV Water Systems can supply and install a complete dosing system including pump, day tank, level switch, and injection point.
Can UV Water Systems deliver chemicals in bulk across Oman? Yes — we supply water treatment chemicals in drum quantities with delivery to Muscat and all major wilayats. Contact us at +968 9763 7786 for pricing and lead times.
